Downtown Wytheville, Incorporated, the Joint Industrial Development Authority of Wythe County, and the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce the Evolution Wytheville – Business Idea CompetitionEvolution Wytheville is designed to encourage and develop an entrepreneurial spirit through business development courses and mentorships to guide participants through the creation of their business plan.  Evolution Wytheville empowers participants to establish new business ventures and create local jobs.

Register to compete for a share of $73,000 by January 5, 2018 to develop your sustainable business in Downtown Wytheville.

Evolution Wytheville consists of 6 business development courses designed to walk participants through building a framework for their business plan. Course topics include Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Business & Legal Structure, Operations & Customer Service, Financial Planning/Cash Flow, Marketing, and Sustaining/Planning for the Future. These courses are free of charge and open to anyone who is interested, but participants who plan to compete for prizes must attend each course to be eligible.

Along with attending the required courses, competitors must complete a business plan, fill a vacant storefront or provide significant expansion to an existing business, fill a community need, and provide a minimum of one full time and one part time job per grant.

Participants competing for Evolution Wytheville  prizes must also locate businesses within the B-2 Downtown Wytheville Zone, as defined in the Town of Wytheville Zoning Ordinance Article XI-A – Business District B-2 DT General Business District – Downtown. This Zone lies between 12th and 11th Streets for Spring Street, Main Street, and Monroe Street.

Following the business development courses, participants may submit their completed business plans for a chance to become a finalist and present their business idea to a panel of judges. After the final presentation, a winner will be selected based on their ability to demonstrate the viability, innovation, ability to create jobs, and potential impact of their business concept in Downtown Wytheville.
