Electric
Wythe County’s reasonable utility rates are a cost-saving advantage to local companies. For example, Appalachian Power, a division of American Electric Power, offers electric rates at about 77% of the national average for large users.*

Natural Gas
Atmos Energy provides natural gas service to Progress Park from an in-park distribution station. National gas prices are determined primarily by market rates. Transportation rates are governed by state tariff rates. Customers have the option of interruptible or non-interruptible service. Significant cost savings are often obtained by making provisions to operate for short periods of cold weather (or other emergencies) on alternative fuels.
Telecommunications
CenturyLink is the incumbent local telecommunications provider serving Progress Park and Wythe County.
Citizens also has independent fiber service to Progress Park and Fairview Industrial Park.
Solid Waste Disposal
The Wythe-Bland Public Service Authority operates a transfer station that accepts non-hazardous industrial waste, which is transported to landfills outside of the county. On-site pickup is available from private service providers. Private contractors provide hazardous waste disposal services from local industries to sites in West Virginia or South Carolina.
