Joint IDA of Wythe County Presents Awards at Annual Luncheon in Wytheville

Joint IDA Recognizes Industries at Tenure Awards

WYTHEVILLE — The Joint Industrial Development Authority held its annual Tenure Awards luncheon to celebrate Wythe County industries on April 27, 2023, at the Wytheville Meeting Center. An important part of the Joint IDA’s annual industry appreciation activities is the recognition of companies that have had a presence in Wythe County for multiples of five years. This year eight different businesses were awarded, ranging in operation time from 20 years to 65 years. Some awardees are global brands while others are distinctively homegrown. The Tenure Awards offer an opportunity to recognize and honor the important contributions made by these businesses in our community.

Joining the Joint IDA and awarded businesses were Wythe County administrators, Rural Retreat Town administration, Wytheville administration and Town Council members, and business service partners Mount Rogers Regional Partnership and Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce. The Joint IDA also recognized the ongoing community support of Wytheville Office Supply, who has been the sole sponsor of the luncheon since its inception in 2005.
 
Joint IDA Executive Director David Manley shared the history of each company being awarded, and a commemorative glass trophy was presented by Joint IDA Treasurer David Carpenter. The following companies were recognized for their contributions to the community over extended periods:

20 Years: Premier Building Solutions

30 Years: Klöckner Pentaplast

30 Years: Southern Pharmacy Services

35 Years: Creative Glass, Inc.

40 Years: Boxley Ready Mix

50 Years: Wabtec – Longwood Elastomers

65 Years: Farmers Milling
