WYTHEVILLE—The Joint Industrial Development Authority recently presented tenure awards (recognizing five-year increments) for 2013 to several Wythe County industries. These awards were presented at a special luncheon held at the Wytheville Meeting Center on February 28, 2013. Michael Lehmkuhler, Vice President and head of the newly formed Business Attraction group at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, was the keynote speaker. Mr. Lehmkuhler provided valuable insights into Virginia’s renewed focus on attracting new business opportunities for the Commonwealth. He shared with audience that VEDP views Progress Park as the leading rail-served, heavy infrastructured site for manufacturing in Virginia and complemented the community on its site development efforts in recent years. Joining the Joint IDA board of directors were members of the board of supervisors, town councils, and Wythe Manufacturing Council. Wytheville Office Supply has been the sole sponsor of the luncheon since its inception in 2005.
The following companies received acknowledgment for their contributions to the community over extended periods: 5-year award—Lane Enterprises, Inc; 10-year award—Atsumi Car Equipment and J. Z. Utility Barns; 15-year award—Musser Lumber Company, Inc.; 25-year award—Wordsprint and Wythe Stone; 35-year award—Coalfield Services and Mt. Rogers IDC.
