Joint IDA of Wythe County Presents Industry Tenure Awards

WYTHEVILLE—The Joint Industrial Development Authority recently presented tenure awards (recognizing five-year increments) for 2012 to several Wythe County industries. These awards were presented at a special luncheon held at the Wytheville Meeting Center on February 23, 2012. Dr. Jay Langston, Sr. Project Support Manager for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, was the keynote speaker. Dr. Langston provided valuable insights into economic development, emphasizing the critical role played by existing industry to the growth of Virginia’s economy and the importance of community preparedness requiring long-term commitment to economic development. Joining the Joint IDA board of directors were members of the board of supervisors, town councils, and Wythe Manufacturing Council. Wytheville Office Supply has been the sole sponsor of the luncheon since its inception in 2005.
The following companies received acknowledgment for their contributions to the community over extended periods: 5-year award—Lane Enterprises, Inc; 10-year award—Atsumi Car Equipment and J. Z. Utility Barns; 15-year award—Musser Lumber Company, Inc.; 25-year award—Wordsprint and Wythe Stone; 35-year award—Coalfield Services and Mt. Rogers IDC.
